1. Are tasting fees included in the cost?

Yes!  All tasting fees are included in the trip price. We have taken care of all the details including special reservations at each winery that often include upgraded experiences exclusive to Vino Virginia guests.

These upgraded experiences may include:

  • Premium wine tastings not offered to the general public
  • Special seating and treatment
  • Private introductions to the winemaker and tastings by the winemaker
  • You may experience unique behind the scenes opportunities not offered anywhere else
  • We also provide plenty of gourmet food, ice cold bottled water, expert commentary and behind the scenes look on the winery community, local area and other attractions and comfortable, safe transportation so you can just sit back relax and enjoy the day.

2. Where is the pick up location?

3. What time do you pick up and return us?

We will meet you promptly at 10:30am in the front lobby of the Westin Hotel. Your guides will be wearing Logo Vino Virginia black and white striped shirts. They will arrive in a van with the Vino Virginia logo on the side. The van will park in the second entrance lane nearest the elevator coming up from the parking garage.

We suggest you plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early since traffic can be unpredictable in Virginia. An even better idea is to come an hour early and enjoy a delicious breakfast at the Westin’s restaurant – Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro. Just mention you are on a trip with Vino Virginia and Vinifera will provide you with an exclusive 10% off of your purchase.

We leave promptly at 10:30am, and no refunds are given if you miss the van, so please be on time.

We will return back by 6:30pm.

4. Can I bring my children on the trip?

The minimum drinking age in Virginia is 21 years old. For the comfort and convenience of the group we ask that all participants be at least 21 years old.

5. Can I bring my dog?

For the comfort and safety of the group we ask that you leave Fido at home. Not all of the wineries allow dogs and most of the tangent experiences are not conducive to dogs or other animals.

6. Should I bring food or water on the trip?

You are welcome to bring food or water on the trip, but we will provide a set selection of appetizers, lunch food, and plenty of cold bottled water for the day. If you have dietary restrictions please contact us at info@vinovirginia.net or call 703-431-1997 to discuss options. We cannot guarantee to meet all dietary needs, but will do our best.

7. What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel up to 7 days in advance and receive a full refund. 5 days or less you may receive a 50% refund. Due to reservations made with the wineries or experiences and costs incurred we are not able to provide refunds for cancellations 48 hours or less before the trip. Refunds will not be provided for no show’s or missing the van due to being late.

8. What should I wear on the trip?

Wear comfortable clothes. The summers in Virginia can be very hot so check out the weather and dress appropriately. If you are going on a trip that includes a battlefield tour you may do some walking (up to 1.5miles) so wear comfortable shoes. If you are going horseback riding you must wear long pants and closed toed shoes (sneakers are fine). Sandals or heals (even boots with heals) are not permitted.

9. What other things should I bring on the trip?

You may want to bring a camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, medication, hat, light jacket, cash or credit card, government ID, cell phone and any other creature comforts you think you may need.

10. Is there safe, convenient parking at the pick up location?

Yes, the Westin Reston Heights offers Vino Virginia guests complimentary, safe, underground parking.  You may park in any open spot on the first two levels as you enter the parking garage (levels P3 & P4).

The parking garage is below the 6 story building to the left of the Westin (they are connected by a breezeway). To access the parking garage go around the 6 story building on the left side and follow the driveway to the entrance. Once you park your car, take the elevator up and you will arrive at the front entrance of the Westin.

If you find you are unable to safely drive home after your winery experience we encourage you to take a cab. The Westin will gladly let you leave your car, but please inform the front desk so your car is not towed. Also the Westin offers Vino Virginia guests a discount on dinner and room rates so feel free to extend your day or your experience and enjoy the Westin’s hospitality.

11. If I buy wine on the trip how will I get it back home?

We make ordering and transporting your wine easy. At the wineries your wine orders will be taken for you while you enjoy relaxing and tasting the delicious wines. Your guides will collect your orders and payments and submit them to wineries to prepare. Your guides will collect your orders and store them safely in the van or if you prefer have them shipped to your home.  At the end of the trip your guides will hand you back your wine to enjoy when you get back home.

12. Can we have you put a private experience together for our group?

Absolutely! We are an experience company and have partnered with many different wineries and organizations who can offer unique experiences in the Virginia wine country.  Contact us to discuss options in more detail. To best customize your experience we will need to know the date(s) of your event, number of people, interests, budget, etc.  If you have flexibility of dates we can offer the best range of experiences. Our partners can often offer the best options on weekdays.
